Boarding at Las Cañitas Pier
Every year between January and March, the Dominican Republic has the privilege of offering a truly unique natural experience: Humpback Whale Watching, which can be enjoyed along the coastal waters of Samaná and Miches.
We depart from the hotels across the Eastern Plains, travelling through lush green landscapes, wide grasslands, and charming small towns nestled between the mountains and the sea, on our way to this unforgettable adventure.
Our first stop is Las Cañitas Pier, where we board the boat that will take us to the Humpback Whale Sanctuary. The boat ride lasts approximately two and a half hours.
Cayo Levantado (Bacardi Island)
After the whale-watching experience, we head to Cayo Levantado, also known as Bacardi Island, where you’ll enjoy a delicious Dominican-style buffet lunch right by the sea.
After lunch, there’s time to swim in the crystal-clear waters and white-sand beaches, or simply relax under the shade of the coconut trees while enjoying a refreshing Cuba Libre.
Once our time at Cayo Levantado comes to an end, we board the boat again to cross Samaná Bay back to Las Cañitas Pier, then continue by bus back to the hotels in Bávaro and Bayahibe.
Restrictions:
Not suitable for pregnant women, or guests using wheelchairs or crutches.

Sunscreen, cap or hat, sunglasses, beachwear, towel, and comfortable walking shoes or sneakers.

Schedule:
06:00 am – Departure from Bayahibe
07:20 am – Departure from Bávaro
08:30 am – Departure from Miches
09:30 am – Arrival at Las Cañitas, departure to the Whale Sanctuary
11:30 am – End of whale watching, departure to Cayo Levantado
12:00 pm – Arrival at Cayo Levantado, lunch and beach time (approximately 3 hours)
03:00 pm – Departure from Cayo Levantado to Las Cañitas
03:45 pm – Arrival at Las Cañitas Pier and return to hotels in Bávaro and Bayahibe
